A moment with Father Joaquin Perez*

We take a moment to sit down with Father Joaquin Perez, an officiant who ministers to people of all faiths. His ceremonies have a spiritual rather than religious approach, and he establishes lasting relationships with his clients.

  • 1 How long have you been an officiant?
I have been an officiant for 10 incredible years. I was incardinated in the Old Catholic Church, but am NOT affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.

I minister to people of all faiths, serving them
in their spiritual rather than religious needs.

2 What areas of South Florida are you available in?
I will travel to any area of South Florida that my clients need, including Miami-Dade County, Broward, Palm Beach, and The Keys. I am available to wed couples at whatever location they choose.
  • 3 What services do you offer?
I am essentially a church on wheels, providing all the services that are requested.

I am happy to custom-design the ceremony that
you desire, staying true to my belief that you
should have your wedding your way.

I will provide suggestions for the ceremony, but ultimately you have the last word. In addition to performing wedding ceremonies, I also perform baptisms, house/business blessings, life celebrations (funerals), communions, confessions, and anointing.
  • 4 Is there anything special about the way you perform your ceremonies, as compared to other officiants?
My work has a spiritual focus, rather than religious. I help people from all faiths, serving God’s spiritual needs.

The ceremonies I perform are always uplifting, providing fulfillment for the occasion.

I give a pre-matrimonial preparation with a wonderful book entitled “Together for Life.” It delves into psychological topics such as being conscious of who we and helping establish the couple’s collective journey. Another one of my specialties is being able to perform ceremonies for couples of dual faiths and different languages, including English, Spanish, Castilian, Portuguese, Italian, French, and Latin.
  • 5 What is your favorite part of being an officiant?
My job doesn’t end with the performance of the ceremony; I establish a relationship with every couple.

This is a job of the heart, and I thoroughly take pleasure in bringing joy into people’s lives.

I like connecting with my clients and keep in touch with them throughout the years. Many couples that I have wed will call me a few years later to perform the baptism of their first child. The fact that I can share that continual bliss over time is incredibly rewarding.
