Melissa & Steve *

On May 26, 2007 two lovers honored their love. Now, Melissa Caballero de Moreno shares with us her memories of that magical day.

The story on two lovers
I met my husband (Steve Moreno) by sheer coincidence on a night out with some friends we had in common. He was passing thru Miami on a layover flight from South America on route to Houston. The following day we went to a baseball game and unbeknownst to me, he was attracted to me!

Once in Houston he continued to pursue me and then on his return to Miami he invited me to a Marlins Baseball game: Our first official date.

The long distance relationship was very difficult and he moved to Miami and attempted to acquire employment here, but much to my chagrin was unable to. So I followed him to Houston.

We were together 2 years before he proposed. We flew to Paris, France and he proposed on the Eiffel Tower which was a total surprise to me. He had been preparing for this very special day for a whole year.

The ring was a gorgeous round cut diamond ring
on white gold.”

The Wedding
The ceremony was in Saint Jude Catholic Church located on Brickell. Our reception was held in the Historic Venetian Pool in Coral Gables which lends the tropical environment and romantic setting of Venice Italy (which was one of our Honeymoon destinations).

My dress made me feel like a Princess
with a lovely cathedral train.”

The embroidery was simple, classic and very elegant.

We had the great fortune of utilizing our florist as our coordinator for the day of the wedding and he was able to procure for us and the guest a Cigar Roller and Cappuccino station. Parties by Pat were the catering company we used and they made delicious paella which was enjoyed by all.

A little sense of humor
Something funny that occurred was as he handed me the flowers as I was getting out of the Limo, evidently the bees seemed to really like them and all of a sudden a swarm of about 10 bees descended on my bouquet. I almost threw the bouquet to my father and began to scream... This of course only added to my nervousness.

Her advice to Weddingclick brides:
Enjoy the moment and remember that if anything should go wrong the guests will not know the difference. I remember my Mom telling me time and time again to enjoy every single moment and drink up all the colors and smells since it will be gone in a blink of an eye. She was right!! The photographs and video and our memory is what is left.

A time I will forever remember, the day I was a Princess, with my Prince Charming.
